Bush to the Iraqi soliders in his address tonight:
"Do not fight for a dying regime that is not worth your life."
"In any conflict, your fate will depend on your actions. Do not destroy oil wells, a source of wealth that belongs to [us]."
"It will be no defense to say 'I was just following orders.'"
He makes it pretty clear that we're ready for all sorts of surrendering. I heard that some Iraqis already tried to surrender to some British soldiers; the British were doing drills, and the Iraqis heard the gunfire and thought the war had started. I know there was a lot of attention paid to Iraqi morale by the Pentagon in the Gulf War. We dropped leaflets that described some of our weapons.
And to us, his loyal citizens:
"Easy measure has been taken to avoid war."
"We are a peaceful people."
"The security of the world requires disarming Saddam Hussein now."
"The greatest power of freedom is to overcome hatred and violence...that is the freedom we choose."
Right. Every measure has been taken to avoid war. I mean, it's not like we could continue the path of the United Nations. His comment about being a peaceful people is funny, and he managed to get a jab in about France regarding responsibility of countries. This is going to be a fun few weeks. See you in 48 hours, when we're starting.
And we're back on "Orange" alert.
And Bush wasn't even wearing green.
Too bad we're back on Orange. I'm going to have to buy up all of that duct tape again.
